I’m Mark Johnson, Reviews Editor at Punktastic and all round music lover.
I’ve been seriously involved with music since I got my first drum kit in 2000, which led me to forming a band with Dan Tompkins (now of TesseracT). That started my love affair with all aspects of the rock and alternative world and it’s still as strong as ever.
Being a musician is serious fun and during that time I found a passion for writing. I’ve been writing reviews independently since 2007. Prior to Punktastic and thePunkSite I worked with AlreadyHeard, PPcorn (formerly FDRMX) and have had reviews published on AbsolutePunk.net. I’ve since worked press at many of the UK’s best-loved festivals: The Great Escape (Brighton), Slam Dunk (Leeds), Download Festival (Castle Donnington), Y Not (Derbyshire), Hevy Fest (Kent) and ArcTanGent (Bristol). Through journalism I’ve been lucky enough to meet and interview some of my favourite artists, including Funeral for a Friend, Crooks, Trophy Scars, The Dear Hunter, Hands Like Houses and Circa Survive.
TESTWOOD is both my portfolio of articles published across the sites I contribute to and a place for promoting, sharing and celebrating music by artists that I love.
If you’re in a band and you want your work to be heard – email me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I’ll be sure to give it a listen.
